Evening Falls
At 3.30 pm the light was starting to go. These are the hills of the Ettrick valley, just dusted with a little snow. It is very cold, and we met two or three snowploughs - including the Great Grizzly Gritter. Scottish gritters have their names (chosen by schoolchildren) painted on the front.
We've had a quiet day. Watched Andrew Marr this morning. Slightly cheered by what the South African doctor said about the Omicron mutation, though no-one can know yet how that will develop. And whether you agree with Nicola Sturgeon's politics or not, you have to admire her command of her brief.
Then it was half an hour in the loft, hauling out the Christmas decorations. They won't be going up for a while, but I need to sort them out and decide what is going where.
After lunch we drove up to the hills around Selkirk and had a short walk before deciding it was just a bit too slippery for comfort. And on the way back we stuck to the main road. We are missing the dear old LandRover already.
