WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

1st Advent Sunday

Not the Sunday we’d planned but a very pleasant day nevertheless.
We had planned to drive into Skipton for the Christmas lights switch on so Frank took Bella for a long walk after breakfast so we could leave her at home.
I was dressed and ready to go when Frank came back and he went for a quick shower. While he was getting dressed the snow started to fall thick and fast and so we waited but it didn’t stop. We decided the roads might be a bit risky and stayed at home instead.

I got the Christmas decorations out of the loft and hung some of my favourite ones and some fairy lights around the fireplace and also some decs in the front window.
After lunch I made mince pies and we had them with our afternoon coffee.
They were delicious even though I say so myself and I had 3!!!

I don’t think I mentioned yesterday that apart from the greenhouse taking flight, Frank had to cut down our only tree - an apple - as it was very wobbly in the wind and threatening to uproot, lifting the surrounding patio with it.
It upset me as I hate to see trees being chopped down. Bob next door will be happy as he didn’t like the leaves on his lawn!

Anyway I’ve been in touch with a couple of nearby garden centres and asked for recommendations for a smallish apple tree. I got a reply from one suggesting a dwarf Gala apple.

Also we have no signal on the telly since yesterday which is no big deal really but we thing it could be the aerial on our roof rather than a TV mast problem which means we’ll need to get someone out. Meantime we’ve been able to watch Netflix and binged on MAID. What a brilliant series it is.
We particularly loved Maddy the 3 year girl. I do love a good story with a happy ending.

We hope to go to Skipton tomorrow but the temperatures are to drop during the night to -6 so I think the roads may be too icy. We’ll see.

Now it’s book and bedtime.
Goodnight :-)X
