a walking day, south from yuli to fuli ... the path crosses the boundary of the phillipine and eurasian tectonic plates, which after crossing the tropic of cancer brought another smile... the route through rice fields awaiting harvest, others stubble, a detour up a portion of moutain where the views, according to photo's in the train station are quite stunning, well worth the trek up on a clear day, which today wasn't... from the path you can see up to jade mountain, also not today, low clouds and clinging mist most of the time but it remained dry which felt like a blessing in itself... none of which is to say that the surrounding scenery wasn't pretty wonderful, it most definitely was, the island in a constant state of showing off just what nature can create, however the local weather gods choose to assail you... the rabbit hole on the slightly higher hills back up in taipei..
