Birthday cakes

My wife’s birthday is today, the 29th. I received a Facebook message reminding me and suggesting I post a message. I declined and wished her a happy birthday in person.

While she was out I got on with finishing the cakes. She had requested a carrot cake to which I added an orange and cardamom cake, linking the two with crystallised home made orange peel. While not bake off standard, I was pleased with the results and they did taste good.

We had decided to eat in so I cooked a steak dinner. We were (almost) too full to enjoy the cakes. Lots of exercise needed tomorrow.
