Lady Madonna

A grey and murky day but useful things have been achieved. Baby Jesus has yet to arrive in the post box but the BVM is being well attended. Nice for Flower Friday.

How sad to read about the death of Anthony Sher. What a powerful and mesmerising actor he was. I was fortunate to see him in quite a few productions at Stratford, starting with his astonishing performance as Richard III way back in the 80s.  He will be missed.

Should you be after a good film, we watched  The Power of the Dog the other night and were mesmerised. Directed by Jane Campion, ravishingly filmed in New Zealand pretending to be Montana and staring a brooding and menacing Benedict Cumberbatch it is full of incredible landscapes, riveting performances and a lot of extraordinary chaps - not blokes, those strange things cowboys wear around their legs!

In complete contrast we are now ploughing through  The Beatles: Get Back  also riveting in its own way. Astonishing creativity, especially Paul, but poignant too as it's obvious that the end is night.  I was reminiscing how me and my pals, like all preteens around the country, had a Beatles' fan club where we played EPs (who can remember them), drank orange juice out of our Beatles mugs and wondered which one we would like to kiss most - George Harrison for me! It's amazing how all the tunes are still floating around in the head too and instantly take you back.
This is what they were working towards
