Happiness is...

...having a copy of Hugh Marwick's Orkney Farm-names. 
It is one of those books that everyone writing about Norse place-names in Scotland refers to citing a-page reference. I however could not get hold of a copy. The Library couldn't, the internet produced nothing and so I was beginning to despair of ever seeing one.
However when a friend dropped around half a lamb he was selling us, he recommended a couple of bookshops on Shetland and Orkney. Bingo - my first try and Birsay Books had a (relatively expensive but hey-ho it is getting near Christams) copy. 
Lots of little nuggets that would otherwise have passed me by - so much so I've put up a blog using one of those nuggets.
Still a copy of John Stewart's Shetland Place-names to go!
