WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

Christstollen :-b

Oh I wish there was such a thing as SmellyBlipfoto! The spices and that yeasty baking aroma in our kitchen is amazing. Look at the marzipan oozing out - Yum!
Frank said ‘Who is going to eat three stollens.’  :-O
Me-me-me! I will share them though.
I make Stollen from a German recipe book I bought 40 years ago when we lived in Germany. (my 1st husband and I)

Apart from baking which took a while - it’s quite a slow process - I went for a Sunday paper and we sat and read it over cups of tea, then Frank made butternut squash and carrot soup before I was able to take over the kitchen.

Then I did some drawing while Frank took Bella for a pint ;-).

We just watched another video on Youtube.
It was all about statins, cholesterol and heart disease. Frank is on statins since his heart attack 4 years ago and my SiL Diane recently had a high cholesterol result, her Dr wanted her to take statins but she refused.
I have always had my reservations about statins and have never had my cholesterol levels checked.
The video is ‘The Truth about Cholesterol’ and is two GP’s - Dr Malcolm Kendrick and Dr Dan Maggs who have done a lot of extensive research on Statins and the side effects. Frank is now going to do his own research before deciding to stop taking them as we think he has many of the side effects listed. Our GP never asked him about his diet or lifestyle when he was first put on them, it was more or less ‘Take these I’ll see you in 6 months’. Well that never happened either.
I had no idea that when Cholesterol is too low it can cause serious health issues too. That fact is never mentioned. I doubt mine will ever be low but for some who strive for a low test result that is definitely not a good thing.
Every day is a school day! ;-)

The weather started off damp and very windy this morning but developed into quite a nice day although icy cold but I quite like it.
However, for those poor folk who have been without power for 9 days!!! -
it must be horrendous in these freezing temperatures.
How on earth are they managing, especially those with children and the elderly or the disabled.

Now I’m going to get back to the drawing board for bit before book and bedtime. I’m so engrossed in this book - Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks. A story about when the plague came to the village of Eyam in Derbyshire. I think it was her first book about 20 years ago and it is so well written. I was only introduced to this writer by fellow blipper brambleblossom and I like her a lot. (the writer I mean though I do like brambleblossom a lot too! ;-))

Goodnight, and thanks for the comments, stars and hearts :-)X
