Training health workers in the developing world
IMPACT trains local health workers as a sustainable solution to the critical shortage of medical personnel in the developing world.
This shot was taken in the top-deck training room of the Jibon Tari floating hospital in Bangladesh. The hospital stays at each location for approximately six-months at a time but great care is taken to ensure that its work continues to reap positive benefits long after it has left the vicinity.
For example, local Traditional Midwives are trained in safe techniques for delivery, equipped with sterile equipment and the skills to care for women and their babies before, during and after birth. These are skills which will safeguard the lives of women and their babies long after the boat has moved on.
