New Maternity Unit, Kandal Province, #Cambodia

The Peam Okhna Ong Maternity Unit was destroyed during heavy flooding in 2010. Since then local women have had to give birth in a small spare room in another part of the Health Centre - far from ideal conditions.

IMPACT Cambodia has been reconstructing a new and improved Maternity Unit which is almost ready for its opening next month. New beds and equipment are being installed and lots of local volunteers are being trained to support the work of the staff here.

Women from 43 villages in Kandal Province will soon have access to high quality medical services to care for them during pregnancy and birth.
