Joseph Is Rather Alarmed

Today's image is a one of series of numbered and coloured cards attached to railings outside a Methodist church in Maidstone telling the story of the virgin birth of Jesus. It does seem a rather curious way of doing so!
It struck a chord as, as I mentioned in a previous blip, I am currently reading a book called "Small Pleasures" by Claire Chambers that is set in 1957 in the suburbs of south east London, where a young woman contacts a local paper to claim that her daughter is the result of a virgin birth and how a local journalist sets out to discover whether she is a miracle or a fraud. I completely agree with the recommendations describing it as "beautifully written", "moving" and "tender".
