Just a blip
My Mum messaged me mid afternoon to say she’d been taken to hospital. Cue me not being able to focus properly on my patients until home time.
She’d been into town this morning and had to sit for a while as she started feeling dizzy. She rang her GP for advice and he said he was going to send an ambulance for her, but she refused as she had a bag full of frozen food. He asked what was more important and she said ‘my frozen food’!
After a bit of a rest, she felt ok to go home and pottered about for a bit before she started feeling dizzy again. At this point, she had to admit defeat and call an ambulance.
The paramedics found an irregular heart rhythm on the ECG, so said they would take her to hospital. Luckily, they didn’t keep her in, so we were able to pick her up and take her home.
They are going to arrange an outpatient appointment for her to have a 24hr heart monitor and take it from there.
I’m glad she was ok. She was a bit breathless when we picked her up, so I’ve told her to ring me if she needs anything and I’ll call round tomorrow to check on her.
Fingers crossed it was (in her words) ‘just a blip’ :-)
