Golden

We had a family gathering this evening for Mama & Papa A’s golden wedding anniversary.

They knew we’d booked a table for a meal, but didn’t expect to see balloons or a cake when they arrived!

Arrangements went slightly to pot, as Mr A’s niece and her boyfriend should have been in Dublin, but the latest restrictions put paid to that, but at least she was able to come after all.
His brother and wife were booked to come but cancelled last minute as Mark wasn’t well & was awaiting results of a PCR test.

For their gifts, we’ve paid for them to visit Chatsworth House (that’s booked for next week) and we’ve also booked afternoon tea for all of us for the new year, which means those that couldn’t come to the meal, can still come for that.

They’re difficult to buy for, but love eating out and being with family, so both gifts were gratefully received.

The cake was made by the lady who made our wedding cake, so we know it will be good. I almost went for the fern print on our cake (to match the table decor) but Mr A wasn’t keen and what we got in the end was perfect.

Mama A is going to follow my lead and freeze the cake until Christmas, so that it will stay fresh and we can all have a piece when we are together on Christmas Day. :-)
