Unwelcome news!
This cheery picture is of some of the little gifts I got for my wonderful form.
It feels somewhat ironic now, as we had the last staff briefing of term at school this morning and it’s not good news - if we open back up in January, we’ll come back to a staggered start, mass testing, bubbles, one-way systems, masks everywhere, and a big drive to get remote learning back up-to-speed for the high number of students expected to be off.
I’ve got a one-off day at a school in Brighton tomorrow, which is a bit odd as most schools close at lunchtime on the last day (hence my not being needed at my current school). It’s usually just playing games and watching videos in form rooms, with possibly an assembly, so I couldn’t understand why they need to get someone in from an agency. Just saw the news, though, and apparently there are so many teachers off sick that the government has put out a plea for ex- teachers to sign up with supply agencies as there aren’t enough to cover all the absences. I guess that explains it!
I feel so sorry for everyone being affected (and infected!) by this new ‘wave’, it’s definitely getting bad again. :-(
