Julia
More reunions! This time, the lovely Julia, who is looking very pensive here.
Unlike most of my friends, I actually saw Julia when I was away because while I was studying in England she was doing the same in America; she visited me at uni when she came to the UK at the end of her trip, so I saw her far more recently than I did others. However, she's probably the person I spend the most time with when we're in the same place so I'd been missing her quite a lot! Our initial reunion took place in private, thank god, as we screamed very loudly when I opened my front door, terrifying my cats and the woman walking past my front gate in the process.
We went for brunch down at the Children's Farm, which is by the river and about a ten minute walk from me. One of my favourite things about where I live is this little area - the farm, the river and the convent that backs onto the farm. Given that I live five minutes from the city centre, the fact that I can take a stroll down to the river and feel like I'm in the countryside is amazing. The cafe at the farm was closed for ages when I was at home because they were refurbishing it, but it reopened a few months ago so we decided to try it out. It was so wonderful - the setting is perfect, with the farm and the convent right there, and the food was really good. As it's the holidays, there were lots of kids around visiting the animals, and we sat in the sun and basically just enjoyed ourselves.
I spent the rest of the day sorting out things and running errands; I also re-watched Dr Who, which is much better now that I'm not a jetlagged zombie. I really want to clear my room out, but what with all the stuff I've brought home and the stuff I still haven't really sorted since we moved (two years ago...), it's a pretty daunting task. Maybe next week will be more productive!
I'm pretty pleased with this shot, actually! Julia is looking very thoughtful - possibly she's questioning the meaning of life, or maybe daydreaming about the yummy brunch we'd just devoured. I took quite a few photos this morning, which I'll link to when tumblr stops being silly and lets me upload them!
EDIT: I gave up on tumblr - the photos are !
