A very merry un-birthday
Today was my grand reunion with the lovely Phoebe, who I missed terribly while I was away!
We met for lunch in the city, and I think we might have frightened a few passers-by with our excitement at finally seeing each other again! We went to the loveliest little cafe in one of the arcades called Alice Nivens (of Alice in Wonderland fame, hence today's title!) which opened up while I was away and had brilliant reviews. It definitely lived up to those reviews - the food was delicious, the atmosphere was really great and the decor was amazing. There was an Alice in Wonderland mural on one of the walls (you can sort of see it behind Phoebe), teacups for light fixtures and lots of little tea and rabbit themed knick-knacks. It's basically the perfect Melbourne cafe - quirky and individual with good food and yummy cakes.
We spent the rest of the afternoon having a good mooch through the city - we each had a list of things we wanted to do, and we managed to get almost all of it done so we ended our day feeling pretty accomplished. I think I'm still getting over my jetlag because I came home and basically switched my brain off for the day. I did manage to make dinner (with Dad's help) - a rather yummy zucchini, green bean and basil risotto - but I'm now slumped in front of the telly, struggling to finish this entry!
Technically, this isn't the best photo - Phoebe's hand and the cup are way too bright - but I love her expression, and although I could have taken a moment to adjust the settings, our lunch was sitting waiting to be enjoyed and I was too hungry to bother! There's dedicated photography for you...
