HIPPEASTRUM, aka : Amaryllis

A favorite part of the Christmas holiday is growing AMARYLLIS from a bulb. There are lots of different varieties & readily available. They are also so easy to grow. Getting them to re-bloom is a challenge, though.

The tag says AMARYLLIS is native to the
tropical parts of Africa. The real name is
HIPPEASTRUM; but is widely know by its Greek name AMARYLLIS, from the poetry of Vergilius. There is more to that story, but for another time.

This bulb gave me four perfect flowers, that have lasted many day.
