Dunkeld Cathedral

Dunkeld Cathedral sits right on the north bank of the Tay. It had been a holy site since 730AD when a monastery was first built there and housed St Columba's remains for a couple of years in the 9th century when The Vikings were being troublesome around Iona!
The Cathedral was first started in the 13th century and took 250 years to finish. It's half Gothic, half Norman and dedicated to St Columba.
The building was damaged during the Reformation and again during the first Jacobite Uprising but after its renovation at the beginning of the 20th Century stands tall and proud on the banks of the fast flowing Tay.
Looking at it today, it's amazing to think of its long history.
