Diary of an Edinburgher

Haircut day

I’ve been working up to it for days - yes, Archie had his hair cut today. A beautiful sunny afternoon then lured me out for a walk with him. I needed a light bulb from the local hardware shop. Archie loves going in there - he gets a treat!

Then we walked on to the deli to pay for the two pastries I’d been given last week when their power was off. And I did not buy another two, strangely.

We were having a reduced soirée - only two visitors (households) instead of four. Hazel and CT came, and a merry time was had. Here’s Archie checking out one plate of nibbles - pea fritters, horse radish cream, ham hock and quails’ eggs. Delicious. Actually, the tasty nibbles kept coming, including the miniature fish’n’chip cones we had last time.

At one point, quite late on, JR came rushing in from the kitchen to tell us that there was water dripping down through one of our lights from the flat upstairs! I went up to check what was going on, and two chaps were ‘working’ on the flat - doing ‘quiet jobs’ they said. They switched off the water and assured us they’d be back in the morning to check. Hmmmm.
