St Lucia

Today's the day ........................ to dream of sunnier times

On this shortest day of the year, that was also very grey and miserable here, there was only one thing to do - and that was to hoist the St Lucia flag.

It has cheered us up on many a dark, winter's day and made us think of the sunny Caribbean. The cerulean blue of the background epitomises the sky and the sea, specifically the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Seas which encircle the country.  The black and white allude to the harmonious relationship between the black and white races. The yellow symbolises the sunshine, as well as prosperity. The triangles represent the Pitons, twin volcanic cones located in the southwest part of the island which are a national symbol of St Lucia and represent unity.  All in all, it's a brilliant flag to raise the spirits.

And in a similar vein, this is how today's Advent Calendar Coffee, which was from Honduras and called 'Mi Tazita Honey', was described -
' . . . . Pina Colada-esque tasting notes come out to play here in this beautifully balanced coffee.  Taste that sweet, sweet papaya and dream of sunnier days'

I'm feeling a whole lot better ......................
