Winter solstice

A friend on the allotment made a bonfire for the winter solstice - we had roasted chestnuts, mulled wine (some mulled on the plot!), mince pies and other homemade goodies.

It was good to catch up with people I haven't seen much since the end of the summer, and especially good to celebrate the shortest day of the year.

Onwards and upwards now - time to think about sowing onion seeds, ordering seed potatoes and putting the very last bulbs in the ground!
