Down to the sea
Bald Rock Creek, in Girraween National Park, rises on the crest of the Great Dividing Range at a height of about 1000 m above sea level. Raindrops that fall on the eastern side of the divide flow to the Pacific Ocean, about 200 km east. Raindrops that fall on the western side of the divide flow down this creek, and then various rivers, to the Southern Ocean 2,000 km away in South Australia.
We visit this area at least once a year. In summer, we enjoy the cooler and less humid climate, compared with Lennox Head on the coast. It offers enjoyable walking in Girraween National Park, with great wildflowers in season (today's extra shows Fringed Lily, Thysanotus tuberosus). And there are good wineries!
