Iced Lanterns
This is the emergency blip to beat all emergency blips and unfortunately it has happened on the worst possible night. It wasn't supposed to be this way at all.
Knowing that I had a very bust day scheduled for today, I shot my blip (plastic cutlery shot with double polarisers and all glowing with the colours of the rainbow) at ten minutes after midnight last night, went to bed and promptly forgot all about it until a couple of hours ago. Went to upload and disaster! I had forgotten to change the clock in the camera to take account of summer time which started a couple of days ago so the file was dated yesterday at 11.10 last night and of course was unusable. Quick dash to the freezer where these Chinese Lanterns have been residing in a block of ice for 3 weeks now and we have our emergency blip.
The reason I really did not want this to happen is that I wanted to get around to each of you individually tonight with a few words. With the time now coming up to 11pm, that's not going to happen.
This is my 1000th straight blip in a row since I found this crazy place and I have had so much fun BUT it is time now to call it an occasional pastime rather than an obsession. My work commitments mean that I really don't have the time to be out there blipping every day and my family commitments have been taking a back seat for at least 2 hours every single night for the past 1000 days. So, it really is time to take a back seat, pop by whenever possible and generally try to be a better commentator than of late. You have probably already noticed that I don't go into much detail in my comments nowadays, simply because of the time factor.
I don't intend to go away altogether. I'll still be around but a lot less frequently. Thanks for all the fun and let's look forward to some more as time goes by.
