We are next to frozen lake Saimaa. This is an old war hospital area which was a mental hospital after that. In the picture is one of the old buildings, called castle. All old buildings are protected and most of them have been updated to be used as accommodation. I think we have one left that is under construction.

We had wonderful Christmas dinner in the ice hockey arena. It was transformed to a salon with pillars and chandeliers. Everyone wore a mask and we had space between each other. At first it sounded but scary to take part of such dinner, but with all that space and air it was really fantastic.

The weather is brisk cold nearing -20c. We are quite close to Russian border. We’ve walked with the dogs twice. They are happy with all the news smells. Lots of dogs vacationing here so they have their own news stands to read.
