"The Timing"....
...Getting the timing just right whilst balancing on a very old river red gum stump, sitting proudly on the riverbank - was crucial - to capture the P.S. MELBOURNE chugging along the river Murray not far away..
...I've been wanting to get this shot of the passing paddle steamer for some time, framed by the giant hole on both sides of the hollow river red gum - so very, very old...
There was a bit of action on the river today with small, fast moving boats, driven by what appeared to be children of no more than 14 - one did have a safety jacket on we noticed, but on the other side of the river there were men fishing and apparently they weren't impressed with the scooting around of the boats right near them., doing wheelies in the water to try to catch their own wake..
It's fun to be that age, and boys will be boys, but not really in charge of a powered craft on the river..we wondered where Mum and Dad were to allow the boys on the river in their boat...I'm sure the skipper of the paddle steamers would see a lot of this. The craft shown with the paddle steamer is not the one doing the wheelies in front of the other crafts, the lads sat aside and watched the big paddle boat pass by then resumed their annoyance to the men fishing...
The men fishing moved on.
It's school holidays here at the moment, and unfortunately this happens, well, everywhere really, I recall it happening many times with those one-man jet-skis ..until a few people came to grief.. not as many here now though, but they're still around...
Well - I got my shot anyway, and didn't fall off the old stump after all - I'm sure John wonders what I'm going to do next!!!
....It was a beautiful day again....
