Across the gardens. Boxing Day.
Lots of goldfinches once again in the Rowan tree, sounding like an aviary!
Robins singing, sparrows squabbling, blue-tits and great-tits singing their one or two notes, coal-tits flitting on and off the feeders along with the nuthatch.
A misty damp morning when I walked up the garden first thing.
No sound of any traffic and quiet skies. I looked across the neighbouring back gardens loving the peace when nobody is stirring.
We had a lovely time with the family yesterday and a wonderful traditional Christmas dinner.
We finished by pouring brandy over the Christmas pudding (which the children made here the other week) and lighting it.
Always a magical moment when the lights are tuned off, a match is lit to touch the edge, then the blue flame dances around the dome shaped treat!
It was very yummy eaten with whipped dairy free cream and custard, as one of the children is lactose intolerant.
A lovely way to celebrate their first Christmas living in their new home here.
We came home early evening.
It was raining and cold but the houses with Christmas lights festooning their façades and gardens sparkled in the darkness.
On we go now towards another year.
And the news today that Archbishop Desmond Tutu has died aged 90.
What an incredible man.
