Looking Down a Snowy Road
We were expecting freezing rain for most of the day, according to the forecast. But where I live, it started out as mostly snow. It began snowing around 9 in the morning, and it gave us a couple of inches in a couple of hours. In the afternoon, it turned into what they call around here "a wintry mix."
In the evening, it threw pretty much every kind of precipitation possible at us, even some thunder. We thought the rain would take the snow, but it didn't. The next morning, it's frozen solid in many places, with surprising bits of ice here and there to make the roads bad in spots.
This is what the road in front of our house looked like just after the snow ended. My husband and I went out to shovel the drive way, and I nabbed a few photos while the white stuff was still fresh and pretty.
We didn't have anywhere we had to go. That's the best kind of winter weather event: the kind you can watch from your window, not worrying about the dangers of travel, relaxing under a soft blankie with a good book and a hot cup of tea!
Here is a favorite song about snow, and I've got two versions of it for you. The tune is Dan Fogelberg's High Country Snows. Here is a studio version, and here is a live version, solo acoustic.
