A century apart

Having spent the weekend with our friend in her housesit today we popped into the city centre for a wander. Played the tourist a bit (as there aren't any real ones). The main shows two iconic Auckland buildings, the nearer one being the former customs house which was built in the late nineteenth century. It's now a duty free store. Behind is the Metropolis, one of the first luxury apartment buildings, which is late twentieth century. This was the tallest residential building in NZ until 2020. In the extra are some leftover baubles from the Christmas decorations.
