Arachnid

My apologies to anyone who is arachnophobic. Please turn away your eyes now. Tom came round this afternoon to clear the logs and take them back for his log burner. He found this impressive spider, possibly a false widow. It is one of the few spiders that could possibly give you a nip. It was sunny enough to go for a walk across the fields in the morning. However they were doing land drainage on part of the path and we had some difficulty circumventing the machinery. The rest of the day was spent packing up the living room.

I discovered today that both my daughter, granddaughter and her partner who we saw last week have now got Covid and are feeling quite poorly. They were all out celebrating after we left on Boxing Day and think they picked it up at the local pub where lots of people have contracted the virus.
