Candied Orange Peel

I got inspired to make my own addition to future pannetonne, plus I like the idea of starting the new year right by using up all the parts of the orange. The strips are more bitter than I anticipated, but also more sugary. It's an interesting combination, but I'm not sure I'd bother again. Can that be all that I did today? I mean besides the Sunday puzzle.
