Red & Blue Damsel (Xanthagrion erythroneurum)

Perfect day today - lovely and warm, beautiful Autumn weather.

The level of the lake in the Belair Park is very low right now, so we desperately need some decent rain.

It seems that the conditions were perfect for breeding damsel flies though, which was a surprise to me. I left my 100 mm lens at home by mistake, but it didn't matter because I couldn't have got this shot with it anyway - the 300 mm zoom was better than nothing. The damsels were a a few metres away from me, and flitting about like the wind.

Not sure whether it's worth going in large or not - it's probably a bit blurry.
