Freesias
Before we took Luke back to London yesterday, we looked at dates when we could all go to Switzerland to ski later this season. There were no dates that suited everyone, it made the boys feel sad that they were missing skiing for yet another year. Christmas time is really the best time for them from a work point of view, so later in the season does not work for them.
Luke then rearranged some work things and before I knew what was what he had booked to go later this week and ski on the weekend - then Gavin said he would join him, and I was going to stay home with Xena. But last night we contacted P the dog walker and he is able to have Xena board with him for a few days, so it looks like we are all going to Switzerland for a few days from Thursday this week to Monday. Flights are relatively cheap and available after the Christmas holidays, and we can get all the LFT's done in time for the Covid requirements in both countries. Its not that bad, as being fully vaccinated means only a LFT before entering Switzerland, another one before returning to the UK, and a PCR within 2 days of returning to the UK - the former two tests being ordered online and no longer as expensive as they used to be.
Xena has therefore gone to P for a trial sleepover tonight, and if it works then it looks like I am unexpectedly going to Switzerland for 4 nights! He came to pick her up today at lunch time, she was going for a walk before going to his house. She knows him and his own Vizsla very well so hopefully it will work? I am missing her very much already, I have not spent a day apart from her for about 2 years now so it feels strange without her around the house.
I did take Xena out for a short walk this morning, but as we reached the woods it started raining and it turned very cold - she hated every minute of it and kept huddling under a bush trying to keep dry! It has turned rather cold this afternoon so I took photos of some freesias I have in the house, but then we had the most spectacular sunset, so an extra as seen from my bedroom window.
Tommy and Inca have also decided to join us for the 4 nights, before they go back to university. Unfortunately Adam and Pip cannot come as they are both in the middle of experiments in their respective labs which cannot be left.
