Xena in the sunshine
Last night Xena was doing very well at P the dogwalker's house for her trial sleepover. He sent videos and photos of her and she seemed quite settled. However, much later he contacted me to say that the cockerpoo he was also looking after was being a bit annoying to Xena, and Xena was having none of it and actually baring her teeth at the cockerpoo (very unlike Xena) so it would be best if she came home rather than there be problems between the dogs. However, she passed her trial sleepover with flying colours and she would easily be able to stay there if it was just her and his own Vizsla who she likes. He only decided this as he already had a backup plan in place which was for Xena to stay with Fi his work partner in the doggy business, who Xena and I already know. In fact when P was sending videos of Xena to me earlier Fi was commenting on them saying she was very jealous not to be having Xena to stay. So Xena came home last night.
This morning we had a walk in the woods and it was very cold, there was frost and the puddles were all icy. After lunch Fi popped by to see Xena and to discuss everything about her stay. I feel relieved that this alternative plan has worked and am happy for her to go to Fi who has known Xena since she was a tiny puppy and we often see her when out walking in the woods. Fi confirmed that the cockerpoo was a bit of a challenging dog, annoys other dogs, so it was good to know that it was unusual circumstances that made Xena not like that dog.
Our travel lateral flow tests arrived today, one day after ordering them. We had not yet ordered the PCR tests required for day 2 of our return to the UK, and just as we were about to order them we saw the latest government announcement that they are no longer required, you only need to do one if your LFT is positive. It now means that testing for travel is no longer as expensive as it used to be a year ago, the online LFT travel tests have come right down in price to £19 each, whereas a year ago tests were well over £100.
