Horticultural magic
How does nature do it? I gathered a few (hundred) seeds and Mother Nature has turned them into this. Now I have to find time and a skipload of energy to plant out all the flowers that are waiting outside the greenhouse.
Today I've been concentrating on repotting tomatoes, pepper and aubergines and planting out lettuces and courgettes. This morning I made my first bread by hand for thirty years. One of our lovely volunteers brought us Mary Berry's latest cookbook. It contains 1000 old-fashioned, but utterly reliable, recipes. So far the banana cake, soda bread, baked Alaska, Koulibiac and Devonshire baps have been faultless. Only 995 recipes to go.
