Diary of an Edinburgher

A visit to Maggie

The predicted bad weather has yet to arrive here, so Archie and JR went off for a big walk around the lanes and graveyards.

But first we went visiting - to see our old sofas in their new flat. And it’s so nice to see them with a new lease of life, as they were very nearly going to the city dump.

They’re in Maggie’s mum and dad’s flat, so she was there to greet us, quietly, on the stairs. Archie usually gets quite excited going up stairs, and likes to bark to let everyone know. We haven’t really seen them (the people, not the sofas) for ages, so that was a treat. We also had some beautiful little pastry treats from the French bakery.

I came home and started my new audiobook - Miriam Margolyes’ autobiography, ‘This Much is True’. I really want to like her, but her self proclaimed ‘potty mouth‘ with swear words and sexual innuendoes dropped in normal conversation does not impress me. But what’s good is that if I doze off for a while, I’m not missing any vital plot development.

I took dozens of photos of the two dogs, but only one was OK to use. Maggie absolutely refuses to sit and pose. And if treats are involved, she goes bonkers.

Lots of news, as usual, today.

Novak Djokovic thinks COVID rules don’t apply to him, Aussies disagree…
580,000 900,000 1 million people have signed a petition to stop Tony Blair getting a knighthood…
Prince Andrew still sweating, awaiting the judge’s decision…
There’s been a UK incidence of avian flu in a person…
