Sunset Waves

So with the house now clear of Christmas glitz, it’s time to turn attention to leftover food, and I spend the morning creating soups and veggie casseroles - anything to avoid unnecessary waste.

Most of the day is dull and drizzly, but by mid afternoon the clouds begin to lift, so we head for West Shore in the hope of sunset. We’re not disappointed, though this is very different from those we’ve seen here previously.

The tide is in and the wind has whipped the waves to crash against the stone defences. With cumulonimbus rolling over the  valley to the south, the coastal skies above are clear. The sun is free to dazzle mercilessly, then dip anonymously behind the Carneddau leaving a cold and colourless January sky. I just manage to catch it as it slips behind the mountains, briefly casting golden rays into the sky which momentarily catch the edges of the clouds before they fade to nothing.
