The Wild Cards

The only Christmas present I said I’d like, after seeing an exhibition at Exeter Museum, of original art work by Jackie Morris for the Lost Words, together with the relevant poem by Robert Macfarlane. There was obviously an interrogation- ‘what are you going to do with 100 postcards? It will just sit on a shelf.’ ‘I said I’m going to send them to family and friends every now and then.’
A deal with Father Christmas was done.

Words from top left
Blackbird ‘But there has always been singing in dark times’

Woodpecker ‘Woodpecker, tree wrecker, would you ever give your neck a rest and let a fellow get a bit of peace round here?’

Magpie ‘ Every Magpie for every Magpie against Every Other Walking Flying Swimming Creeping Creature on the Earth

Jackdaw ‘As dusk darkens Jackdaws gather to shake out feathers’

Kingfisher ‘Neat and still it sits in the snag of a stick’

One hundred beautiful postcards with beautiful words - all for £14.99 or free from Father Christmas
