Life through the lens...

Oakwell Country Park.

A few photos taken on our walk round Oakwell Hall this morning.
The weather was dull, but felt very mild, although only 7C.
There was a large group of dog walkers near the cafe, but we only met 6 people on the rest of our walk.
I was hoping to see some long tailed tits, and was pleased to spot two just before we got back to the car.
Did however manage a photo of the moorhen and mallard.

We did wonder why a lovely bouquet had been left in some gorse bushes.

The Christmas rose was flowering in a pot beside a memorial bench. One of many dotted around the park.

Although the shop was closed they had an interesting display of armour in the window.
My photo is of a “ lobster pot” helmet.
So called because the neck protection looks like a lobster’s tail. Worn by the Parliamentarian cavalry in the English Civil War.

We did notice that a lot of pruning and cutting back had been done since my last visit as
nothing got done during lockdown.

Always an interesting walk at any time of year, and the catkins are now long and fluffy. Means spring is on the way.
