WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

Beach Day!

What a Grand Day Out - as Wallace would say!
We set off for Silverdale after breakfast, taking a good picnic with us.
For some reason we ended up in Arnside, don’t know how we did that but it didn’t matter because it was lovely. The sun shone, I didn’t even need my hat or gloves on.
Bella May went crazy,  zooming in big circles on the sand. We haven’t seen her so excited in ages. We did a long walk along the beach and I couldn’t resist taking off my wellies and socks and going for a paddle. Bella has never been keen on going in water but she started running in just at the edge first and then splashed in past me! She was so proud of herself. She also made some other doggy pals there which is good as she doesn’t always get on with other dogs but she played nice and was much praised for it.
We walked back to the car and Bella didn’t want to leave the beach so we had to put her lead on and drag her away, we ate our picnic then drove a little further and came into Silverdale but the beach we parked on was all jaggy rocks. So we just had another coffee from the flask while Bella wandered off a bit. When we called her she didn’t come, so Frank walked off in the direction she’d gone, we knew she would be hiding somewhere so she didn’t have to go home but Frank couldn’t see her. I saw a slight movement at the bottom of a garden and went to have a look. There she was trying to hide in someone’s little stone built shed, which you could barely see from the beach. Again she had to be dragged by the lead to the car.
She hates leaving a place when she’s having a good time. She’s knackered now! So are we!

Goodnight Blippers ;-)X

12/365 A Day at the Beach in January

Sun stars dance on water
Pull off those boots and socks
Wade in above the ankles
Avoid the hidden rocks.
Toes curl tight in the icy cold
Take a sudden gasp of air
Slowly, slowly blow it out
Go on, go further if you dare.
Even the dog is braver now
As she hears the cries of glee
She cautiously tests the water
Then splashes in after me
