Red lorry, Yellow Lorry

What a glorious day. Blue skies, sunshine and a walk up Rivington Pike with a bestie.

Sue and I spent the afternoon walking up Rivi. There was a new cafe, so on the way down we bought a drink and sat outside just soaking in the wonderful view.

It was total gridlock as we tried to drive away. Two lorries had a very near miss and police blocked the road down from the Pike. There is a quarry half way up and lorries come and go all the time. It was thought that the red lorry driver had some sort of episode or blackout. He came from the quarry as the yellow lorry was about to turn in. The yellow lorry swerved and missed him by inches, knocking bits off his lorry but getting out unscathed. The red lorry toppled over. It was a left hand drive and apparently it hit the road with a slam. Although he was strapped in, the driver probably hit his head. Yellow lorry driver climbed up on the cab but the central locking stopped him from getting in. We missed all this, but I chatted with the yellow lorry driver and the police. The other driver was taken to hospital and hopefully will be fine.

We watched the lorry being lifted upright and the debris cleared. The police then let us drive by. There were ten more red lorries all queuing to go up to the quarry. Sue and I always manage to find a drama!
