Tip toe among the gravestones
One effect of the pandemic is that it has forced us to explore our local area. Normally at this time of the year we would be somewhere warm and sunny.
Instead, thanks to a friend’s recommendation, we discover a new walk twenty minutes from our home. It’s not signposted and I could find no mention of it on the internet.
It begins two miles south of Doune, an area steeped in history. Entrance to the wooded walk to Blair Drummond (see extra) now known as Camphill, a residential centre for people with learning disabilities is past the remains of a 12th century church, and the cemetery still in use.( see extra)
( It was alarming to see that many gravestones had folk buried younger than us!)
We searched for the notorious gravestone bearing the inscription to one man’s “ deplorable relatives” but failed to find it. So another visit is called for.
Thanks to Marlieske for hosting the challenge Derelict Sunday.
