Homeward bound
Mr S felt well again, so after a quick breakfast, we packed the car up and headed back up north. It was another stunning day in the mountains, so beautiful driving up the Oberwallis valley, through all the picturesque little villages, with beautiful wooden houses covered in snow, and watching hundreds of people doing cross country skiing in the Goms area, a huge open area perfect for the sport. We took the Furka car train tunnel back to Realp, then we overtook the Gotthard Train which runs right next to the road.
After Andermatt, the road cuts down through a steep gorge, then very soon we were in Gurtnellen, and plunged into a deep layer of freezing fog, which lasted the rest of the way home, and didn’t clear all day.
