Burn, burn, burn
Last night it was very cold and we awoke to frost and fog. The frost soon melted but the fog stubbornly remained. Our team which manages our local wildlife area had arranged to meet at 10am to burn a lot of the prunings from our recent coppicing session .(The bigger logs and long, straight, lengths are being reserved for other uses.) We built our fire under the guidance of C, our pyromaster, but it took three attempts to get it going. We decided this was probably because the air was still very moist from the mist and there was no breeze. However, eventually the sun came through, the fire took off, and we were kept busy feeding it. Then we baked potatoes in the glowing embers to feed ourselves. A very satisfying mid winter activity!
