That's Life!

Rosalea . . .

Welcome to the great barn at Rosalea Jersey farm right at the edge of Georgetown. No cows here anymore, they were shipped out ages ago when their owner sold out to property developers.

Now the barns are tumbling, the stalls where dozens of cows were once milked are now home to small animals and bugs, and there are gaping holes in the first level floor. I climbed the stairs, but when I saw all the loose and missing floorboards I took a couple of shots and backed down again very carefully. Soon all the beautiful timbers that remain will be recycled as expensive dining room tables and furniture in high-end stores. But the memory will survive. In 20 years when Rosalea is long gone, the owners of the new identikit homes that will be built in its place will hear the sound of ghostly mooing in the evening shadows; and they'll wonder why. Some of us will understand perfectly . . . . . .
