Abstract Food
It was fun trying to frame abstract patterns in food, and a quick rummage in the fridge and pantry gave lots of options to play with. I love the dry, papery texture of the outer skin on garlic bulbs, and the colour contrast with the dry roots at the base, while the texture on the Savoy cabbage (extra) replicates the branching shapes I photographed last last year in frost patterns on the Velux window. Thank you Ingeborg for hosting Abstract Thursday.
Movie night has come round again already. Tonight was Cardiff Animation Night, a hour of short animations selected and live streamed on YouTube, with audience comments in the chat box, by the team who run Cardiff Animation Festival. These began during the first lockdown, when their regular cinema events could not take place, and J was delighted to find an accessible, free and regular short animation event online, especially as they now subtitle all the films, making them entirely accessible to her. They are continuing to offer some online evenings although they are now back in the cinema too, and tonight there was the usual varied selection of films in a range of styles and types of animation. We followed this with more animation, A Cat in Paris (Une Vie de Chat), a really attractively designed 2D animation aimed at children but appealing enough for us both to enjoy it, and only about an hour long. We also finished the Ben & Jerry's peanut butter cup, so it was altogether a nice evening.
