Purple Sandpipers & A Turnstone
A combination of work, weather and midwinter lassitude (or WoWEMiLa) means I haven't been out much.
Today, I headed back to Birsay to see if I could see any white-wing gulls or snowe buntings. Success with the gulls- a glaucous loafing on a field. My eyes had been firmly fixed seaward, so it was lucky I glanced inland and saw the gull resting by a flood pool in a field (extra). Quite a lot of purple sandpipers- maybe 75 plus, also turnstones, curlews, oystercatchers, ravens, wigeon, teal, mallard etc.
