Fresh prunings
The compost/pallet cemetery/wood/burning pile by the pond was something I did deliberately to offer wildlife protection in the winter months. There are doubtless amphibians hiding in there, and possibly small mammals.
Today I added green prunings from the garden.
This area will be a potato bed in the spring so I'll need to sow green manure in a few weeks and sort out the pile ready for planting when the weather starts warming up.
The residents of this wild area still have a good two months to enjoy some protection from the elements and/or predators.
