This week was supposed to be the first of 26 weeks walking the butterfly transect I started last year for the UK Butterfly Monitoring Scheme. But the minimum temperature for recording is 13 degrees C and we haven't reached that this week. I walked the route today anyway, plenty of bumblee bees around and a solitary Brimstone butterfly. I also came across this clutch of five eggs that something had been eating.
