Vive la Vie

Abbaye de Villers

Wow - I think the temperature may possibly have reached double figures today and the sun came out to play all day long. What a difference some warmth makes.

I 'only' ran for 2 hours this morning as my taper has begun and it felt so short and easy, which hopefully is a good sign. When I got home Olivia was ready and rearing to go for her training run as I had promised to take her around the block for a practice run in her new trainers. I can't say she was amazing as she set off way too fast as she wanted us to race, then she wanted to weave in and out of the pillars, then she wanted to pick some daisies, then she wanted to have a little rest, then she ran again, then she climbed up onto a wall to balance, then she ran again and I don't think she paused for breath once until we got back home when she started complaining that her hip was hurting and then she wanted to know if I think she'll win her race in a few weeks time. I tried to break it to her gently that she didn't stand a chance, same as Mummy really, but it's the taking part that counts!

We headed down to an Irish Pub in Place Flagey to meet friends for Sunday lunch, which I think, is the first time we've been for some Sunday grub since we moved to Belgium. It was strange because the entire menu was in English and you have to order in English and it was just like being back in a pub at home! Dexter and his little pal from the creche ran around making 'hilarious' noises and making each other laugh before Dexter became fascinated with going to the toilet (we're going through the joys of potty training at the moment) and Olivia was fascinated with, the now, three month old baby Clara who we blipped on Boxing Day.

As the sun was shining and we wanted to enjoy being outside we decided to visit the Abbey at Villers-la-Ville after lunch, which was a surprising belta! The kids really enjoyed exploring the ruins and it was so lovely to see so many people out and about enjoying the Spring weather at last.
