Victoria Bridge

Today's the day ........................ for a stroll down memory lane

A morning spent in Kendal before driving back home.  It's always a bit strange to be back in the town where we lived for almost 30 years, but to feel very much like a tourist now!  To know everything so well - but to see all the changes that have happened since we left.

This is Victoria Bridge over the River Kent in the middle of town - a very familiar landmark.  Last time I saw it, there was major renovation work going on underneath it to repair those very spindly-looking metal pillars that hold it up.  The river bed had been scoured out from beneath them during the last really bad floods.  It all looked good today though, in the winter sunshine.

We certainly knew it as the 'Batman Bridge' - which I'm not sure was just something we called it or whether everyone called it that?  If you look at the extra, you'll know why ..................!
