There was some interesting cloudage as I left to get my newspaper at 7:30 this morning. I was up early to be in place to watch the Australian Open Men’s final at 8:30 - and stayed in place for the next 6 hours! What an amazing final, I though Nadal had no chance when he lost the 2nd set, but was very pleased to be proved wrong. So incredible, not least as he only played 1 tournament in the last 7 months of 2021 due to a foot injury, plus he had Covid in mid Dec. So Nadal now has the record of 21 Men’s Grand Slam titles - what an amazing achievement, well done Rafa! In the other battle of the day it was a tie - blue tits 2, pigeons 2, a poor performance all round on the Big Garden Birdwatch.
Day 685 / Day 4 Post Plan B (for my record only)
Vulnerable children aged 5 to 11 are now eligible for their first of two Pfizer jabs (each a third of the adult dose). Eligibility is either as they’re most at risk from Covid or because they live with a vulnerable person - about half a million are affected. Whilst still incredibly low, Beijing reported its highest number of cases since June 2020, 5 days before the start of the Winter Olympics. No ‘partygate’ report news.
